College Panhellenic / IFC Academy Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1 The academy will focus on two main areas – (1) helping council officers understand the council’s purpose and (2) officer track programming – nuts and bolts training of how to be effective in the job. There will be officer tracks for both the College Panhellenic Academy and IFC Academy. The program is scheduled on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 1pm to 7:30pm and Friday, March 1, 2019 from 10:30am to 11:45am and 1:30pm to 5:00pm. For more information, please visit the FAQ webpage. Pre-Conference Academy for Culturally Based Organizations Thursday, February 28 from 1:00pm - 7:00pm “Great, I have a ‘seat at the table’, what about my voice?” “That’s not how our process works!” Does this sound like you or members of your organization, NGLA? In this inaugural pre-conference workshop, fraternity and sorority life members will learn how to identify, address, and resolve areas for growth in their respective organizations (e.g., recruitment, academics, burnout, collaboration, managing their orgs. and councils, leveraging resources). This workshop will address how to effectively and efficiently lead change management as Greek leaders from culturally-based organizations in today’s society. Attendees will learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion among Greek leaders and develop the necessary skills to manage diversity on their respective campuses, with a specific focus on the challenges and limitations of being a member of a culturally-based organization. Moreover, attendees will learn about organizational learning, focusing on engaging members from diverse backgrounds in order to foster inclusive excellence as leaders. Attendees will leave prepared to challenge the narrative of “we can’t” and replace it with “we will.” This program is included in your registration cost as an undergraduate student. Graduate Student Encounter! Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 Sign up to participate in several educational sessions specific to graduate students as you prepare for a possible career in higher education. In addition to networking with other graduate students, the Graduate Student Encounter! will provide educational sessions specific to graduate students as well as the opportunity to participate in mock interviews and a resume review. Local Organization Institute Friday, March 1 This series of workshops throughout the day on Friday offers an opportunity for members of local fraternities and sororities to discuss strategies for sustainable success. Workshop facilitators have experience working with local organizations and the unique challenges and opportunities they present to student members.This one-day program during the conference will feature speakers who are local organization alumni and professionals with extensive experience advising local organizations to help the leaders of these organizations be successful. The programs will be interactive and feature topics on organizational improvement and alumni relations. This program is included in your registration cost. Culturally Based Organization Institute Friday, March 1 Designed to meet the unique needs of culturally based organizations. This institute will provide resources, new skills, and strategies for the growth and development of each individual organization. We will give you the tools needed to start building a campus support network through collaboration in order to achieve your organizational goals. We will provide you with tangible skills to grow your organization, build a strong vision of the future college campus, and create a positive impact on your entire community. We will challenge you to go forth and make a difference on your campus while highlighting your organizational mission and values at all times. This program is included in your registration cost. Advisor Academy Sponsored by Phi Mu Delta Saturday, March 2 from 9:00am-4:00pm NGLA’s award-winning Advisor Academy brings together volunteer, alumni, and faculty advisors and advisory boards from around the region to share best practices and hear from industry leaders on issues affecting higher education and the interfraternal community.
