Educational Opportunities

Hundreds of fraternity and sorority leaders from the Northeast will converge in Hartford, Connecticut to participate in three days of workshops, general sessions and idea sharing.

Our conference schedule will continue to offer learning opportunities and practical ideas. We are excited about our education sessions and our Values Institute, which provides participants with a comprehensive look at the core values of fraternity and sorority life.

Our Developmental Resource Center, will showcase the latest educational resources and successful programs of college campuses and inter/national organizations. Participants are encouraged to bring their own information and resources to share with others as well as gather information about what other Greek communities are doing.

Recognition Program

NGLA will recognize outstanding governing councils (IFC, IGC, NPHC, Panhellenic) during the conference. All councils are encouraged to complete the recognition applications. Awards will recognize overall achievement in several programming areas and will be presented at Saturday's Closing Banquet. Applications can be found here. Please direct all questions regarding the recognition program to JoAnn Arnholt at 732-932-7692 or arnholt@rci.rutgers.edu and/or Patty Gesell at 843-838-2995 or pattygesell@gmail.com, Awards Chairmen.

Code of Conduct

The future of our conference depends on the good will we develop with hotel properties throughout the Northeast. NGLA takes the conduct of its participants seriously. All conference participants are expected to respect the property and rights of the hotel and its guests. Regardless of the age of the guest, no alcohol will be permitted at the hotel and participants are prohibited from drinking at the hotel. Excessive noise will not be tolerated and the laws of the State of Connecticut apply to all in attendance.

Individuals violating hotel and conference policy will be asked to leave the conference with no refund of fees. Institutions with early check outs due to violations of the Code of Conduct will be assessed a fee, payable to NGLA, equal to the amount of lost revenue incurred by NGLA as a result of lost room nights. Appropriate college or university officials and inter/national fraternity or sorority staff members will be notified of the conduct of those violating these expectations. Councils found in violation of the NGLA Code of Conduct are ineligible to participate in the following year's recognition program. Additionally, a college or university with repeat violations will jeopardize that institution's future attendance at the conference.

Dress Code and Special Events

Thursday is a travel day, so all participants are invited to dress casually for our evening speaker and welcome activity.

Professional attire is required for Friday and Saturday conference activities. The conference is an educational and professional opportunity, and dress and conduct should reflect a professional image. T-shirts, jeans, sweats or other similar casual attire during the conference sessions is inappropriate. Recruitment t-shirts, party t-shirts and other paraphernalia that displays images or slogans contrary to the values of NGLA should be left at home.

Saturday evening's closing banquet is a bit more formal: Coat and tie for men and dresses for women are appropriate.

Based on last year's success, conference attendees will again have a chance to shop in our "Greek Boutique." Unique Impressions will set up shop and bring you the latest in sportswear, jewelry, gifts and other Greek paraphernalia. Purchases may be made on site or ordered for delivery.
