Annual Conference
Call for Programs
2008 Conference
As defined in our Mission Statement, the NGLA exists to “promote the founding principles and positive traditions of all Greek letter organizations through opportunities that encourage learning and leadership for the Northeast region.” We hope you, or a member of your institution or organization, will recognize the value of encouraging learning and leadership by submitting a proposal to present a workshop at this year’s conference.
In addition to workshops facilitated by national volunteers, fraternity/sorority staff members and campus advisors, we encourage student leaders to work in conjunction with a co-presenter to submit a workshop proposal and take an active role in the learning process at the 2008 Conference.
Programming for all of the Northeast's fraternity and sorority members, Latino/a, Asian, IGC, NPC, NPHC, and NIC, means providing programs that cover topics of importance to all Greeks. When creating your program, use a format appropriate for the topic, provide a purposeful handout to reinforce information presented and be sure to provide for interaction among your participants. Our student leaders are well versed in the challenges that face their Greek community. They are coming to our conference to get practical, useful ideas to help them meet their challenges. As you prepare your proposal, challenge yourself to ensure your audience will leave your session with three to five new ideas they can implement. All program sessions will be scheduled in 60 minute blocks on Saturday, February 23rd.
In an effort to keep conference registration fees affordable, no honoraria are awarded for workshop presentations. Program faculty will need to register for the conference and are responsible for hotel and transportation expenses. If you plan to co-present, all members of your presentation team must also register for the conference. If you are selected to present, you will receive a one-time $25.00 reduction in your conference registration fee.
Program proposals must be postmarked by 5:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2007. Program Coordinators will be notified of their program selection by Monday, November 19, 2007. If the program is selected, presenters should plan to arrive at the conference by Thursday evening, February 21st and remain through the closing banquet on Saturday evening, February 23rd.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.
